THE ANTEVERSION ANGLE

Working with an orthopaedic surgeon was an invaluable experience and allowed me to create this digital line drawing for publication in a medical journal. This piece depicts two possible developmental routes the ulna can undergo in regards to olecranon ossification; depending on the route taken and number of ossification centers present, the anteversion angle is affected, which plays a role in hyperextension of the elbow in children. This was my first piece created for a real client, and the collaboration taught me important skills not only in illustrating with simple line, but also how to cater to the client’s needs while offering my own skills and artistic expertise to produce a clear and communicative illustration.
