FIGURE DRAWING

It was in learning how to draw the human figure proportionately and accurately that I rekindled my passion for art, which I laid aside for a while after high school. I was taking a figure drawing course to help fulfill my tentative dream of becoming a medical illustrator, and every week as I looked at the progress I was making, I left the studio feeling elated and closer to my goal. This piece can be considered unfinished, but I like to think of it as a reflection of my developing skills and experience - there are rendered parts that give life to the image, other portions that are works in progress, and still other hinted portions holding mystery, promise, and future opportunity. The world of art is vast and rich, filled with various possibilities and methods to create, grow, and discover one’s self through expression. I had only begun to dip my toe into its colorful depths.
